SUMMARY:RIBBON CUTTING GOOD WILL MINI SHOP
DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, February 29\, 2024:\n\nReception and Ribbon-cutting ceremony: Goodwill Mini Shop \n\n10 - 10:30 a.m.\n\nAddress: 1163 Merrick Avenue\; Merrick\, NY 11566.\n\n \n\nGoodwill Mini Shop & Donation Drop is our new\, small-format store that offers a curated selection of pre-loved donated goods that Long Island donors have dropped off\, including home d cor\, books\, accessories\, glassware\, and other great knick-knacks and doodads. Most importantly\, this 2\,000 sq. ft Goodwill site will serve as a sustainability resource to help Long Island residents re-use and re-purpose the clothing and goods they no longer need. The other location\, a traditional Goodwill store and donation center is in Suffolk County at 1900 Jericho Turnpike\, East Northport\, NY 11731.\n\n \n\nGoodwill NYNJ has helped New Yorkers re-use and re-purpose goods for over 100 years. Because Goodwill is a nonprofit organization\, donors receive a tax receipt for their donations upon request.\n\n \n\nIn 2023\, Goodwill NYNJ re-purposed more than 37 million pounds of pre-loved clothing and home goods\, successfully diverting the weight of usable goods equivalent to 83 Statues of Liberty from landfills. Saving nearly 55 thousand metric tons of CO2 from polluting the atmosphere\, the equivalent of removing 12 thousand cars from the road. Also\, over 933 thousand donors\, enough to fill the Nassau Coliseum 58 times\, dropped goods at Goodwill.\n\n \n\nWe are committed to playing a vital role in the community and look forward to meeting you. Please RSVP to Info@merrickchamber.org if you can attend the grand opening ceremony.
